We often are asked by new parents “What are the proper steps I should take when it comes to my child’s oral care?”. We know you want to make sure you’re doing the best for your child’s teeth, and that’s why we have come up with this handy guide of essentials you should be doing.

It’s important to bring your child in for his regular dental check-ups. We typically recommend scheduling your child’s first dental appointment after their first birthday, or six months after the arrival of his first tooth. During this initial visit, your child will be relaxed and comfortable during their introduction to Dr. Kyle Raymond and his friendly staff. We will welcome any questions you may have during this time!

You should teach your child the basics of oral care at a young age. When your child learns how to brush, floss, and rinse their teeth in their youth, they are more inclined to carry on such habits as they grow older. This will ensure a healthy smile for years to come. Try to keep your child engaged and always learning during this time by making a game out of it, or perhaps playing music. If you bring the whole family into it, the more inclined your child is to be involved in the process.

If you haven’t already started doing these things, you can always start now! If you have any questions about pediatric dentistry in Austin, Texas, please call Westlake Pediatric Dentistry today at 512-732-0022. Our team looks forward to treating your child’s smile.
