If you want your child to have a top-notch smile and oral health, then you need to do everything you can to help your child care for their teeth and gums. Unfortunately, there are habits in the world today that can harm your child’s smile. Our pediatric dentist, Dr. Kyle Raymond, encourages you to help your child avoid these habits as much as possible. Those habits are:

-Not wearing a mouthguard when playing high-contact sports

-Not keeping up on oral hygiene

-Not visiting the dentist regularly

-Eating sugary and acidic foods and drinks

-Ignoring consistent toothaches and cavities

-Overusing whitening treatments

-Using the teeth as tools, like to open a package or rip off a tag

-Biting the nails

-Brushing too hard (This can irritate the gums and even wear down the tooth enamel)

-Flossing vigorously (It’s important to be gentle as you floss around the gums otherwise the tissues can get damaged)

-Constantly snacking (If you snack throughout the day, it doesn’t give the teeth the chance to rejuvenate. This increases the chances of cavities and erosion)
